Big City Butterflies: A Legacy Film for Butterfly Conservation

Project overview:

Butterfly Conservation ran a three-year project called Big City Butterflies, aiming to improve conditions for pollinators in central London. They partnered with Blatella to create a film capturing the heart of the project – from conservation and community to education and impact.

Requirement

The brief was to inspire, not just inform. The film needed to cover education, conservation work, and local community involvement – within a 10-minute runtime. Oh, and we had to film butterflies and moths (spoiler: they don’t take direction well).

Solution & Results

From February to October 2024, we filmed across London – from classrooms to gardens to parks. The result? A 9-minute film blending science, real stories, and stunning visuals, designed to inform, inspire, and live on as a legacy piece.
