Schoolyard Scenarios – Complete Commedia Company

Project overview:

The theatre company would normally go into sixth form colleges and teach drama students the conventions of Commedia del’arte, how to perform it and teach it to primary school pupils. However, with Covid regulations restricting school visits the company adapted and took the performance and lesson straight to the primary schools. We were commissioned to document this process.

The Solution:

Following the company to several schools in Thurrock across one week, our crew captured shots of the performance and subsequent lessons, delivered outside for safety. Interviews were recorded from members of the theatre company, school staff and students. This was edited into a documentary style film to serve as an evaluative tool to show the funders of the programme.
